CBS, NBC Virtually Tied in Total Viewers; NBC Wins in 18-49

NBC came in first ahead of CBS by a tenth of a rating point in total viewers and households and edged Fox by a little less than half a rating point for the primetime TV week ended Sunday.

According to data released Tuesday afternoon by Nielsen Media Research, NBC delivered a 6.3/11 with 6.6 million viewers compared to the CBS delivery of 6.2/11 with 6.5 million viewers. ABC came in third (4.5/8, 4.8 million) and Fox came in fourth (4.3/8, 4.6 million). UPN earned a 2.1/4, 2.2 million viewers, The WB earned a 1.9/3, 2 million and Pax earned a 0.8/1 with 840,000 viewers.

In adults 18-49, NBC delivered a 3.3/10 with 4.3 million viewers to Fox's 2.9/9, 3.7 million viewers. ABC delivered a 2.7/9, 3.4 million viewers; CBS delivered a 2.6/8 with 3.3 million viewers; The WB, 1.1/3, 1.30 million; UPN, 1.2/4, 1.5 million; and Pax, 0.2/1, 320,000.

In the top 10 programs for the week June 2-8, all but an ABC News Special interview with Hillary Clinton were repeats:

The Miss Universe Pageant earned a 7.9/13 and the third game of the NBA Finals on ABC was tied three ways for 17th place. The first game of the New Jersey Nets vs. San Antonio was in a three-way tie for 25th place.
