At Last, The Secret Of Monetizing Online Video Revealed

MediaPost Social Insider columnist Cathy Taylor has it, and used it to kick off an afternoon session of OMMA Publishing panel themed “Can Video Be Monetized.”

“The answer is yes. It can be monetized on TV,” Taylor quipped.

Citing the fact that the major broadcast networks have once again reaped $9 billion in upfront advertising sales, and contrasting that to the fact that YouTube, “can't be arrested when it comes to monetizing online video,” Taylor made a pretty good case for the old television advertising model.

Taylor, by the way, will be hosting MediaPost's OMMA Social conference next Monday in New York. Let's hope YouTube isn't there.
