Simple, Useful, Shiny -- And Maybe Even Obscene

“What makes something viral,” Cathy Taylor posed to her OMMA Social panel, in an attempt to once and for all wrestle a definition down for this seemingly elusive piece of industry jargon.

To Todd Sims, the answer is: “It's simple. It's useful. And it's shiny.”

To Rob Key, the answer is: “It's like what the courts have said about obscenity. You know it when you see it.”

To Tanner Hobin the answer is: “To me, viral is what happens when it reaches critical mass and you lose control of the content where people market for you.”
