Female Power: VH1 Debuts 2 New Shows

Margaret Cho VH1 is counting on women to power Thursday nights. That's when the music network debuts two new series: "Glam God With Vivica A. Fox" and "The Cho Show," starring controversial comic Margaret Cho. Both shows complement the long-running series "The Fabulous Life."

Fox, who starred in the sixth season of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," brings her fashion expertise to "Glam God," a new reality show. Kicking off Aug. 21 at 10 p.m., the show searches for the next celebrity stylist. Contestants will be judged on their ability to create the perfect look; expertise in hair, makeup and wardrobe is essential. The winner gets $100,000 and the opportunity to style a celebrity.

Among the judges on the "Glam God" panel will be Phillip Bloch, billed as a "stylist to the stars," and Melanie Bromley of Us Weekly. Phillip's clients have included Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman. His work has been seen on the covers of In Style, Vogue and Vanity Fair. Bromley heads up the magazine's L.A. office.

By contrast, "The Cho Show," debuting 11 p.m. that night, will catalog Margaret Cho's show-biz struggles and her problems with the TV industry. The show follows Cho and her entourage, blending real-life situations with comic touches, running the gamut from complicated moments with her somewhat traditional Korean parents to more outrageous moments with friends.

The returning "The Fabulous Life" spotlights hot names and trends, such as Hollywood's lavish baby boom. The eight new episodes will focus on people and purchases, with shows such as "Red Carpet Excess" and "Super-Spoiled Stage Moms" on the upcoming roster. New super-spenders introduced this season will include Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Daniel Radcliffe of "Harry Potter" fame.

VH1 is available in 90 million households in the U.S.
