If a Mr. Hugh G. Bottom goes to the market to buy some advertising, heads up to the second floor, and while reaching for some classifieds, falls out the second story window, then it's appropriate to write "Bottom falls out of the ad market, literally."

This usage, however, is far from literal. The headline for today's lead story in MDN should read, "Bottom falls out of the ad market, analogously."
