Biggest Loser Expands Into Exercise Accessories

  • June 2, 2009
The Biggest Loser is expanding its franchise into the video game realm with a new line of electronic exercise accessories -- think jumpropes and weights -- to be used with Nintendo's Wii Fit games and Balance Board.

In addition, THQ is developing a branded Biggest Loser game, in which computer avatars of the show's trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels lead gamers through a series of workouts and give them nutrition goals. The Biggest Loser franchise has already been licensed to books, DVDs, home health equipment and protein powders.

"The goal of our license program is to turn The Biggest Loser into a lifestyle brand that will inspire and help people to make healthy eating and exercise choices," said Mark Koops, managing director at Reveille, the production company behind the show, in a statement. "[These] fitness accessories will be a strong addition to the excitement we already have around our partnership with THQ to launch the ultimate Wii fitness game that not only will help achieve real results but be a lot of fun for the whole family."--Aaron Baar
