Minneapolitan Muscle: Carmichael Grabs Fallon's Buckhorn

Dean Buckhorn has joined Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis as group creative director, the agency said Thursday. He was recruited by Carmichael Lynch's chief creative officer Dave Damman.

Buckhorn has garnered numerous awards for work for clients including Coca-Cola and Miller Lite.

He is the author of the long-running Time Magazine “Red Border” ad series that was named campaign of the decade by the One Club for Art & Copy in New York. He also created a popular Travelers Insurance campaign, featuring the he-can-fly-but-can't swim ad in which a man leaps off a bridge with a pair of strap-on wings.

"In a business of one-hit wonders, Dean is remarkable for his consistency, having created hit campaign after hit campaign, across media, and across time," said Damman. "Imagine the trust that inspires in clients."

Buckhorn spent two decades at Publicis-owned Fallon, also in Minneapolis. While he was there, in addition to Coke, Miller Lite and Time, he worked on such high-profile accounts as Lee Jeans, Citibank, PBS, BMW, Nikon, Jim Beam and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Carmichael Lynch, an Interpublic Group agency, serves clients including Subaru of America, Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, Tempur-Pedic and Ingersoll Rand.
