Grey London Creatives Introduce 'Beard Ornaments'

Facial hair. It's had a long and ever changing history within the ad community. From the goatees to the chin strip to soul patch to the chin curtain, ad men have long been a fan of facial hair. But lately, it's been all about the full-on Santa-style beard. The more the better. And, of course, there's nothing wrong with that. To each his own.

Hoping to bring some fun and merriment to this explosion of facial hair, two Grey London creatives, Mike Kennedy and Pauline Ashford, have come up with a bit of holiday fun. The pair have introduced Beard Baubles, miniature Christmas ornaments men can affix to their beard so they can look like, well, idiots if you ask me but I'm sure there's a few out there who will adopt this as some sort of fashion trend.

Their genesis behind the idea? Kennedy and Ashford say, "The idea came from messing around with a little Christmas tree, and how it looked a little like a pointy beard when you turned it upside down. Working in an ad agency, we're constantly tapping into what's hot in pop culture. Although Christmas and beards have always gone hand in hand right? Just look at Father Christmas. ... And seeing as it's been a great year for the beard we thought it only fitting that we bejeweled them for the festive season."

Interested, and hairy men can buy packages of 14 colorful ornaments which sell for $11 and are available to ship to the U.K, U.S., Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Germany. Except for the fact they're temporarily sold out. But it's promised more stock will be available soon. Sales proceeds will be donated to Beard Season, an Australian charity which raises awareness and money to fight melanoma. Beard-cember doesn't roll off the tongue anywhere near as smoothly as Movember but the effort is still to be applauded.
