Hello Summer! NYC & Company Welcomes The Heat

Yes, New York is hot and sticky by late June, but it has also become a really great place to be in the dog days, what with the new Brooklyn Bridge Park; a growing, dizzying, and probably endless series of outdoor concerts, shows, performances, sports events; new pools, and bodies of swimmable water and water parks; restaurants, food trucks, foodie happenings; and new neighborhoods that have become hip and have to be experienced, bubble tea in hand. And Coney Island, which is also new in its way. And the Cyclones, a must-do, if only once.

It is also a top tourism period for the city, bringing in some 15 million visitors, according to NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership organization for the City of New York. In order to supercharge the season, it has launched “Hello Summer,” a promotional effort that the organization says coincides with U.S. Travel Rally Day as part of National Travel Tourism Week, and includes a microsite.

Some of the highlights of the campaign are the Whitney Museum's new Meatpacking District space; the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, which opens this month; and the One World Observatory on top of what is now the tallest building this side of Kuala Lumpur. That space, atop the World Trade Center, opens late this month.

The organization is spotlighting the recently opened Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan, Pier A Harbor House, Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in The Bronx, and a bunch of new hotels. NYC & Company is also gearing up for the 24th annual NYC Restaurant Week, July 20 to Aug. 14.

The company says "Hello Summer" will get media support via out-of-home advertising in Boston, digital media campaign targeting the Northeast region and the U.K., social media engagement using the hashtag #HelloSummer, and editorial content on NYCgo.com.
