Olapic Acquires Piqora, Expands Visual Marketing Capabilities

Olapic, a marketing tech company that pulls images from social media to create sponsored ads, has announced the acquisition of Piqora, a visual analytics company.

Piqora’s tech offering includes content scheduling for Instagram and Pinterest, analytics, measurement, and reporting tools, and a shoppable Instagram solution. Olapic will be able to measure the impact of user and brand-generated images across multiple marketing channels.

Piqora’s team in San Mateo, Calif. will join with Olapic, and Olapic will become a Pinterest Marketing Developer Partner as a part of the deal.

“When brands have access and manageability of high-performing content at scale, it improves the cross-channel ROI and engagement with consumers,” stated Pau Sabria, CEO, Olapic. Hubspot recently noted that content that included visuals had 94% more view.

Piqora was founded in 2012, and originally focused on marketing analytics for Pinterest, but soon expanded to include other image-based social platforms like Tumblr and Instagram.

Pinterest is reportedly gearing up for a vast increase in marketing revenue within the next two to three years, with a recent report revealing that the company expects to rake in $3 billion in revenue by 2018. For perspective, the social platform reported $100 million in revenue in 2015.

As social platforms like Pinterest and Instagram open up their doors to advertisers, marketers will need quality analytics geared toward those highly visual media.

Financial terms of the deal have not been released.
