Amazon, NFL Renew 'Thursday Night Football' Streaming Deal

Amazon and the National Football League signed a multiyear deal to keep “Thursday Night Football” streaming live for its more than 100 million Amazon Prime members.

The deal will see Amazon stream 11 Thursday games globally each season for the next two years. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Amazon will stream the games on its website, in the Prime Video app on connected TV devices, and through its Twitch platform, which is geared toward video game fans.

The Amazon deal provides some continuity for fans, who will have to change networks to watch the game on linear platforms. While CBS, NBC and NFL Network all aired Thursday games last year (with Amazon  being the primary streaming home), Fox has secured multiyear rights to the games going forward. As with last season, Amazon will simulcast the broadcast that will air on Fox and NFL Network.

The deal also marks one of Amazon's most significant forays into the advertising world. The company has the rights to sell ad spots during the traditional commercial breaks that appear in football games, alongside ads bought by brands for use across all platforms.
