Apple's Worldwide Developer's conference kicks off Monday and someone (possibly CEO Steve Jobs) is expected to unveil a new iPhone. No major changes are expected, but Silicon Alley Insider's Dan
Frommer lists the most likely new features, starting with a faster processor, more storage capacity, faster Internet speeds, video recording, a better camera, a digital compass, and more iPhone 3.0
software features (which existing iPhone users will be able to download). Other features, such as a front-facing camera for video chat, background app processing, and different colored iPhones, are
less likely.
However, what Apple announces regarding its iPhone service plan is perhaps more important. This will be all about pricing, including an entry-level iPhone plan that is
less than $70 per month, or adding unlimited text messaging to existing plans. As Frommer notes, "the iPhone itself is still too expensive for many buyers. And the service plan is, too." In that case,
it makes sense that Apple would keep its new premium iPhones in the $200-$300 range. That said, a cheaper iPhone with less storage and other missing components could debut at $100 or $150.
