WCVB Wins Gracie Award For "Boston Strong Reunited"

Boston's WCVB Channel 5 has been awarded the 2014 Gracie Award for "Outstanding Talk Show--News" in the local TV category for ts special "Boston Strong Reunited," which featured the survivors and first responders of the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks. The show, which was hosted by NewsCenter 5's Ed Harding and J.C. Monahan, marked the sixth-month anniversary of the tragedy.

The program brought together 150 guests whose lives were impacted by the attacks to discuss how they were coping in the aftermath. Guests included survivors of the blasts and their family members, along with police officers, firefighters, medical personnel and civilians who rushed to aid the victims.

"'Boston Strong Reunited' is a rare and inspirational look at the heroes among us and a celebration of all those who truly make Boston strong,” said WCVB News Director Andrew Vrees, in a statement.  “We are greatly humbled and honored to be recognized with the prestigious Gracie Award.”

The Gracie awards are presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for excellence in radio, TV, cable-TV and online media.
