American Express Intros Payment Wristband For US Open

American Express is launching a contactless payment wristband for attendees at the 2018 US Open Tennis Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

The new service, called Amex Band, comprises a wristband that allows Amex card holders to pay for purchases and unlock various benefits with the tap of the band.

Amex card holders can pick up and activate their Amex Band at a number of locations at the US Open and can be used with a simple tap once activated. The band can be used to purchase concessions, access the American Express Card Member Club, pick up complimentary American Express radios and mobile chargers and make various other purchases on site.

“Our goal is to deliver essential benefits and innovative experiences that enhance the overall Championship experience and reflect our brand’s best-in-class service platform,” stated Deborah Curtis, vice president, global experiences and partnerships, American Express. “Our partnership with the USTA is a prime example of how we’re backing our card members and fans alike across their biggest passion points and favorite cultural events.”

American Express is continuing its long-standing relationship with Venus Williams, four-time US Open champion, as part of the US Open ad campaign.
