ProPublica Is About To Be Unionized: Report

ProPublica, which has gained headlines this week with its reporting on a trip taken by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, is being unionized.

Staff members say the union is ““essential to preserving the best parts of working at ProPublica and ensuring our values do not waver regardless of leadership changes or turbulence within the industry,” according to The Washington Post.

The journalism nonprofit will recognize the union “once the details are worked out,” ProPublica President Robin Sparkman and Editor In Chief Stephen Engleberg wrote in a memo.

ProPublica describes itself as an "independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force.”

The Alito report follows similar investigative stories on Justice Clarence Thomas and other figures.
