Google is discontinuing support for magazine content in Google News starting on Dec. 18, the company announced on Monday.  

On behalf of the Google News team, Ashwarya tells readers that if “you previously purchased or subscribed to magazines, access from Google News apps or news.google.com to your library of magazines will be removed.”

The post continues, “To continue to access previously purchased magazine content, we are providing the opportunity to export and save each purchased issue. In some cases, purchased magazines contain interactive elements that cannot be downloaded and saved for future access, and we are offering a refund for this content." 

Readers have until the Dec. 18 date to export their magazines and/or submit the form to claim their refund.

Google adds, “If you are affected by this change, you will receive an email with the subject line “An update to Google News magazine support” which will contain a link to your download page and/or a unique link to your refund request form if eligible.”

The search engine is clearly headed for a busy December. In a separate announcement, Google has repeated the news that it is cutting off inactive Gmail accounts, starting on Dec. 1.  

“An inactive Google Account is an account that has not been used within a 2-year period,” Google says. “Google reserves the right to delete an inactive Google Account and its activity and data if you are inactive across Google for at least two years.”
