Hearst Connecticut Media Group (HCMG) has acquired RJ Media Group in Meriden.

Terms were not disclosed. 

The Record-Journal, The Cheshire Herald and other weekly newspapers are included in the finalized deal.

There was no word on potential layoffs. 

“Our support of journalism and the communities we serve is unwavering,” says Mike DeLuca, group publisher and president of HCMG, according to CT Insider. 

DeLuca adds, “The prospect of the Record-Journal potentially joining our group is an exciting one. We feel it will continue to provide strong local news, business services for advertisers and much more.”

HCMG has eight daily, 13 weekly newspapers and multiple newsletters across Connecticut.
