Gannett has named Leisa Richardson as executive editor of the Greenville News, Spartanburg Herald-Journal and Anderson Independent Mail, effective Feb. 19.

Previously, Richardson was executive editor of Gannett-owned The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Illinois. She has also worked as a reporter and editor for such Gannett publications as Indianapolis Star, Cincinnati Enquirer, and USA TODAY.

“Leisa is a proven leader who drives success and inspires journalists to be the best in the business,” says Mark Russell, vice president and south region editor for Gannett. “We look forward to welcoming her to Greenville and all the talent and insight that she brings.”
