Realtors have long relied on open houses to sell homes. But open basements?

While it might not have the same ring to it, many local franchise owners of Owens Corning are using the open basement concept to sell the Owens Corning Basement Finishing System. It's simple: Local homeowners are invited to visit a neighbor's home, which is in the midst of a basement renovation. Potential customers not only get to talk to their neighbors in a casual setting about the renovation, they can also schedule a free in-home estimate, register for a basement giveaway, and see whether they qualify for an 11 percent discount.
