What Happens When Social Media Is Everywhere?

If 2009 was the year in which Twitter and Facebook steamrolled much of their competition and kept expanding both in users and uses, 2010 looks to be a year in which changes in social media may occur at an even faster pace. OMMA Social San Francisco looks to help attendees prepare for the next raft of social media change – change that may impact all online media as platforms such as Facebook Connect become embedded in sites throughout the Web. It is quickly becoming as natural to participate in the social Web on major media sites as it is to channel-surf, a behavior that has obvious implications for advertisers. When the next wave hits, OMMA Social attendees will be better prepared to catch it.

But there are other trends attendees will learn more about as well. The explosion in smartphones is resulting in dramatic changes to social media. What was once a desktop-based experience is now often a mobile one. This not only changes how users leverage popular social apps, but also has resulted in the emergence of new ones, such as Brightkite and Foursquare, which have been created specifically to take advantage of the mobile, social Web. We’ll hear from executives and advertisers deeply involved in this space about how they are leveraging this latest iteration of social.

Attendees will also hear from executives at both social media kingpin Facebook, and more traditional media company NBC Universal about how they are thriving and profiting from the social Web.

And then there’s real-time search, seen by some as the next big thing for advertisers and media properties when it comes to making sense of the massive data streams social unleashes. OMMA Social will separate the reality of real-time search from the massive hype it’s generated.

All in all, OMMA Social San Francisco will lay the groundwork for what looks to be the biggest year yet in social media, a medium that’s already seen some very big years. We hope to see you there!

OMMA Social is designed to guide marketing and media professionals through the constantly-shifting terrain of social media. This one-day conference will address social marketing challenges and provide insights into how to make social networking work for companies now, and in the future.
