New Drama-mentary On Order For NBC

  • February 8, 2001
NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the non-scripted "drama-mentary" "Trial & Error" from Dick Wolf ("Law & Order:"), Bill Guttentag and David J. Kanter to be produced for the 2001-02 television season.

"Trial & Error" will follow five first-year assistant district attorneys in major cities as they learn how to become prosecutors. However, it will be edited, according to Wolf, so it will have the "look and feel" of a primetime drama series.

"With Bill and David at the helm, we expect 'Trial & Error' to break new ground and give viewers an eyewitness window into our real life justice system that has never been shown in any medium," Wolf said. "What we are trying to do is open a whole new genre of television, call it 'drama-mentary,' because although this is reality, we want the audience to have the same sort of story-driven viewing experience as they have with 'Law & Order' or any other A-level primetime drama." - Anya Khait
