Nickelodeon Number One on Saturday Mornings Among All Broadcast and Cable Network Competition

Nickelodeon has continued to dominate as the number-one network on Saturday mornings for 32 consecutive weeks, outperforming broadcast and basic cable networks in head-to-head competition among kids 2-11. For this past Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (ET/PT) Nickelodeon outdistanced the nearest competitor, The WB, by 57% in national rating. According to Nielsen Media Research, Nickelodeon posted a 4.7 national rating/20 share (1.9 million kid viewers) among kids 2-11-marking increases of 7% in rating, 11% in share and 8% in average kid viewers as compared to year-ago like time period. Among kids 2-11, Nickelodeon handily beat the closest competitor, The WB, by 57% in national rating, 54% in share and 56% in average kid viewers. The WB, which was down 29% in rating and down 28% in share from last year, averaged a 3.0 national rating/13 share (1.2 million average kid viewers). Following was FOX (2.6 national rating/11 share and 1.1 million kid viewers); ABC (2.2 national rating/10 share and 893,000 kid viewers); CBS (1.9 national rating/9 share and 752,000 kid viewers); Cartoon Network (1.7 national rating/7 share and 689,000 kid viewers); Disney Channel (1.7 national rating/7 share and 680,000 kid viewers); PBS (1.4 national rating/6 share and 568,000 kid viewers); and Fox Family Channel (0.8 national rating/3 share and 320,000 kid viewers).
