British leveraged buyout firm Cinven confirmed Friday that it is in talks about the possible sale of consumer magazine publisher IPC Media to media powerhouse AOL Time Warner Inc. Cinven, which
controls IPC, refused to comment further, other than to say it planned to issue a formal statement jointly with IPC in the near future. Cinven said they plan to say they can give no guarantee that the
discussions will lead to a sale.
IPC publishes some of Britain's best-known titles, including Marie Claire, TVTimes and Loaded, a lifestyle magazine for young men. Its portfolio also includes
dozens of specialist publications such as Horse and Hound, Decanter, Shooting Gun and Bird Keeper.
