According to the latest research from Diameter, of the total number of people who purchased music online, CDs/Tapes were purchased 25% more than books and 11% more than Movie Tapes/DVD's within the last 6 months.

Of the total online population who purchased CD's and Tapes online within the past six months, the top 5 music formats purchased within the past 3 months were:

1. Rock 38%
2. Alternative Rock -- 33%
3. Pop/Top 40 -- 27%
4. Soundtracks -- 25.5%
5. Country -- 22%

However, based on the behavioral data from the past 3 months, online shoppers were more likely to purchase the following musical formats:

1. World Music -- 142% more likely to purchase
2. Soundtracks -- 117% more likely
3. Folk -- 112% more likely
4. Alternative Rock -- 99% more likely
5. Blues 99% more likely
