Tuning In Christmas Music Online
Cablemusic Network's Christmas Classic station drew 5,486 on-line listeners who listened to more than 19,000 hours of holiday tunes - up from 11,930 hours the week before.
The company's Christmas Rock station attracted 1,307 people who listened for a total of 1,738 hours – up from 1,198 hours the previous week. And its Christmas Jazz station had 134 people listen for 244 hours - up from 112 hours a week earlier.
The availability of holiday music did not mean more people listened to Web radio than did the previous week.
In fact, the weekly MeasureCast Internet Radio Listening Index, which tracks listening to Internet radio stations measured by MeasureCast, dipped 10% to 282 during the week beginning November 12, which was Veterans' Day, and a holiday for many people. Two straight weeks of on-line listening declines were preceded by seven consecutive weeks of increases in Internet radio listening.
The weekly MeasureCast Top 25 ranking (based on Total Time Spent Listening) saw MEDIAmazing back in the top spot, trading places with WQXR-FM. Jazzfm.com held steady in second place.
