Jill Abramson Replaces Bill Keller As NYT Exec Editor

Jill Abramson will become the first woman to run the New York Times in its 160-year history when she takes over for Bill Keller as executive editor Sept. 6. Abramson was formerly managing editor -- a position Dean Baquet, the Times' Washington bureau chief, will now hold.

Keller is resigning to write full-time, planning a new column that will run in the Times' revamped Sunday Review section.
