Michele Murgel Named VP of Human Resources at Coupons.com
Coupons.com will announce later today that Michele Murgel will join the company as vice president of human resources. With over 25 years of human resource experience, Murgel will help maintain the high and enjoyable working standards that have come to be expected of Mountain View-based company.
Brian Weisfeld, COO at Coupons.com, said, “Michele’s enthusiasm, energy level, and entrepreneurial spirit are all a great fit for our culture.” Murgel is expected to fit right in with Coupons.com as they “strive to provide a work environment that’s fun and enjoyable while still results-focused.”
Weisfeld said Murgel will “oversee all of Coupon.com’s human resource functions, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and performance management, workforce planning, organization development and facilities.”
The appointment of a vice president of human resources is especially important to Coupons.com because of their recent recognition as a great place to work, proving that the HR department is of high importance to Coupons.com. The company was ranked the 17th best place to work in the Bay Area for mid-size companies.
One of Murgel’s top priorities will be “expanding and improving upon training programs companywide,” said Weisfeld. “This includes training for individual contributors, managers and developing the next generation of executive leadership for the company.”
“I’m very excited to join Coupons.com and its incredibly talented team, as it continues to make an everlasting mark on the coupon industry,” said Murgel in a statement. “The opportunity is enormous and I am very pleased to be a part of the impact the company and its digital products and services are having in the way that brands, retailers and consumers engage.”
“We look forward to continued awards and recognition with Michele at the helm,” said Steven Boal, Coupons.com CEO in a statement. “And to leverage her 25 years of HR expertise to make Coupons.com an even better place for employees to do their best work and thrive.”
Recently, Coupons.com leased additional office space in on Logue Ave. in Mountain View. Coupons.com now owns four buildings on the street - approximately 115,000 square feet in total - to support the rapid growth of the company. They have nearly doubled in size from last July, going from roughly 275 employees to about 500 today. Weisfeld said, “We plan to continue to grow aggressively.”
The additional space gives Coupons.com “the ability to continue to hire new positions while still offering comfortable work spaces,” said Weisfeld. More coupons were redeemed in 2011 than ever before, and digital coupons are the fastest growing category. Weisfeld says that the company is hiring in every department across the company, including sales, marketing, and engineering.
“The entire company will benefit from Michele coming onboard,” said Weisfeld. “She brings executive-level expertise with experience across the spectrum of HR practices that will enable every employee to execute at a high level of performance, which is especially important as our company continues to grow so rapidly."
