  • September 7, 2012

NBC continued its winning streak for coverage of the Democratic National Convention.

The network pulled in 7.03 million in total average viewers, according to Nielsen preliminary results during the two hours NBC covered the event, 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. CNN was next -- more or less -- 4.11 million viewers during the hours from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

NBC sister network MSNBC, which had been tops among the news cable networks during the first couple of days of the DNC, moved to second place (among cable networks) on the third and last day of the event, with 3.61 million viewers for its three-hour 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. time period. Fox News Channel was next at 2.66 million.

Looking at the 10 o'clock hour, where ABC and CBS ran its coverage for President Barack Obama's acceptance speech, ABC had 3.63 million viewers and CBS had 3.03 million.
