AOL Launches On-Demand Services

  • June 10, 2004
America Online on Thursday launched AIM Business Services with two on-demand services, AIM Voice Conferencing and AIM Web Meetings, both of which enable businesses to facilitate conference calls and Web meetings. The Voice Conferencing service is provided in partnership with Lightbridge, while AOL partnered with WebEx on Web Meetings. Both services are available to AOL Instant Messaging users on an on-demand basis via the AIM Buddy List. Invitations to meetings can be sent through AIM to a PC, via AIM and short messaging service to a handheld digital organizer or cell phone, and via any telephone number entered. An "AutoConnect" feature and mobile instant messaging support enable business travelers to participate in meetings. AOL says no dial-in numbers or pass codes are needed. The new services can be accessed at http://www.aimatwork.com.
