Matt Smith’s time as a Time Lord has come to an end, as it was announced that he was stepping down from the lead Doctor Who role he has held since 2010. Smith said it had been "an honour" to play the part. As expected, an army of devoted Doctor Who fans took to Twitter to thank him, which resulted in his name trending worldwide.
