Matthews Signs New MSNBC Contract

Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s nightly political talk show "Hardball" has signed a new contract that keeps him at the struggling network through 2009 and moves his show from a 7 p.m. time slot to 9 p.m. Eastern. Matthews will also be MSNBC's anchor on election nights in 2002 and 2004. Hardball, which has become one of the most popular shows on the network, will air exclusively on MSNBC, with no reruns airing on CNBC, as has been done recently.
