BIZ DEV: TBWA\Chiat\Day's New York Named AOR For Sport Chek

Sport Chek, a Canadian sports retailer, named TBWA\Chiat\Day New York as its lead strategic and creative agency, following a RFP process. Sid Lee was the incumbent until they formally parted ways with the brand in May, 2015. Sports Chek has been working with agencies on a project basis since the split. First work for Sport Chek will launch in early 2016, with a focus on sport-led digital content. Sport Chek opened two flagship stores in the Greater Toronto Area this year, and a digital concept store in Toronto's Maple Leaf Square. "We have a very strong vision for our brand and where we want to take it," said Frederick Lecoq, senior vice president of marketing and eCommerce, FGL Sports, "The Sport Chek brand journey aligns with the TBWA mind-set which made them a natural fit as a partner in our digital transformation." Sport Chek is the 16th piece of new business awarded to TBWA in the U.S. in the last 14 months, alongside Airbnb, GoDaddy, Netflix, Miller Lite, Twitter and Thomson Reuters, to name a few.
