Audi, VW Make Big Changes As Troubles Blossom

Audi appointed Matthias Mueller the new chairman. Mueller is also VW's new CEO, replacing long-time chief Martin Winterkorn, who vacated the post in November. The board also appointed Stephan Knirsch head of engine development at Audi, to succeed Ulrich Hackenberg, the top engineer at Audi and the VW group. Hackenberg, who had been a 30 year VW veteran, was suspended two months ago, and has since departed.
