The tech giant is using this precedent to support its ongoing fight with the U.S. government who is demanding that the company hand over private user emails stored on servers in Ireland. In this week's unrelated decision, the Supreme Court pointed out that without "clearly expressed congressional intent to the contrary, federal laws will be construed to have only domestic application."
