Mike Pence's Lawyers Are Arguing Against Turning Over Email Documents in Public Records Request

Lawyers for Indiana Governor and Republican Vice President-elect Mike Pence are arguing that Indiana's judicial branch cannot force Pence to follow Indiana’s public records law and turn over his emails. Indianapolis attorney William Groth sued the Pence administration in 2015 for denying requests for documents related to block Obama’s immigration executive order. As part of the case, Pence refused to share specific documents shared in his emails. A judge had supported  Pence, but now an Indiana’s Court of Appeals will determine if he must turn over the documents.
