Filmmakers have been using email a lot less, ever since the 2014 Sony hacks and the recent Clinton email scandal. No one in Hollywood wants their emails hacked into or published. Companies like Open
Road Films, which recently released Oliver Stone's film, Snowden, are avoiding emails and using phone calls or in-person meetings to avoid the consequences of email usage. Filmmaker Alex Gibney uses
the Signal app to encrypt texts and phone calls when its necessary to use devices.
