African-American Legislators Outraged By Alabama 'Monkey' Email

Alabama’s Legislative Black Caucus is outraged by an email that seemed to describe African Americans as “monkeys.” The sender of the email, Rep. Lynn Greer (R-Rogersville), has apologized. The subject line reads, "POLITICS psychology," and includes an anecdote about four caged monkeys trying to reach a banana tied to a string. It concludes that "from time to time, ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME!" Then it states: "This is meant as no disrespect to monkeys." Rep. John Rogers (D-Birmingham) said, "I haven't seen this kind of disrespect in my entire life."
