IAB Announces Rich Media Ad Guidelines

  • May 17, 2005
The Interactive Advertising Bureau Monday released its guidelines for ads inserted into streaming video and issued a call for feedback from the industry. The guidelines include limitations on ad length--15- and 30-second spots only if the ad runs before or in the middle of the video content, but no limit if it runs afterwards--a minimum panel size of 300 x 225; aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9 only; a minimum encoded bit rate of 200 Kbps; host-initiated play and audio; controls for start, stop, and volume control; and disabled fast forward during the ad play. The guidelines did not offer a frequency cap, since the broadband ads are ostensibly user-initiated.
