Marketing Week has revisited the issue of fair pay and found that, according to ONS figures for 2016, the gender pay gap for sales and marketing director was 12%. For "marketing associate
professionals' it is 17%. The site reveals that starting out as a marketing assistant is the only time in a woman's career when she can expect to earn more than a man in a similar role.
