Initiative Releases Hispanic Research

After tracking Initiative Media has tracked Hispanic television viewing trends for the past five years, media buying powerhouse has released a summary research report. In the last decade, the U.S. Hispanic population has grown 58%. Hispanics currently represent 20% of all teens and children in the country. Initiative found Hispanic viewing in primetime is split almost evenly between English and Spanish-language television programming. It also found that Fox's has captured the growing market segment. Fox is the number one English-language network and Univision is the dominant Spanish-language network among Hispanics. When looking at the six broadcast networks, Hispanics and non-Hispanics have more favorite shows in common than ever before. For the 2001-2002 television season, eight shows ranked among the top-20 rated series among both Hispanic and non-Hispanic households, up from seven in the 2000-2001 season and six in the 1999-2000 season.
