X Launches 'Ad Revenue Sharing' Program Globally

Less than a month after sharing ad revenue with select verified creators, Twitter -- now rebranded as X -- has made its “Ads Revenue Sharing” program available for all eligible creators across the globe.

“Today is the day,” tweeted X, instructing creators to set up payouts from within Monetization to get compensated for posting content.

The company twitter account also highlighted its desire to become the internet’s leading place to pay creators a living wage. “This is our first step in rewarding you for your efforts,” it wrote.

At the beginning of July, X CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the first round of creator payments will come from a block of $5 million.

To be eligible, X users can subscribe to Blue or Verified Organizations. They must have at least 500 followers and 15 million impressions on their cumulative posts over the previous 3 months.

Once creators opt in, X says they will receive payouts “at a regular cadence,” as long as they have generated over $50.

Creators are being paid depending on how much conversation they generate in their post replies, as the company is not monetizing ads served in the main X timeline -- only the ads included in replies by verified users.
