Howard Rubenstein, head of the newspaper's PR agency, confirms that the Post will "distribute a minimum
number of copies in San Francisco. It won't be a large number." But he insists there is a demand for the paper in the city.
In September, the Post bypassed the New York Daily News and The Washington Post to become the nation's fifth-largest newspaper, with an average daily paid circulation of just over 704,000 Monday through Friday for the six months ended Sept. 30. At the time, it trailed only USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Los Angeles Times nationally.
