Toyota Touts Hybrid In Swimming, Cycling Sponsorships

  • May 3, 2007
Toyota is touting Hybrid Synergy Drive with its sponsorship of USA Swimming and the Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team this year. The Torrance, Calif.-based automaker is launching "Engines of Change" an online and at-venue effort pitched to tri-athletes and fans.

The effort includes a complementary online triathlon training program and the opportunity to become part of the Engines of Change team, which will comprise 130 U.S. athletes who--in addition to racing--will tout Toyota Hybrid-Synergy Drive at events around the country. Criteria for selection center on the work they do in their communities.

Activities supporting the campaign include an interactive, on-site display of Toyota's Prius car, information about Hybrid Synergy, and chances to win prizes. There will also be a national contest in which fans describe how they align with the "Engines of Change" mantra in their lives and activities. Winners get to attend triathlons, USA Swimming events and races featuring the Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team.

Toyota is sponsoring 16 triathlons in 2007, including eight of the Danskin Women's Triathlon Series races and the inaugural Toyota US Open Triathlon Presented by Life Time Fitness.
