Userplane Teams With Fotolog

  • May 8, 2007
AOL's Userplane subsidiary, which provides tools to power social networking, and Fotolog, the photo-blogging community, announced an agreement for Fotolog to integrate Userplane's chat, instant messaging and video messaging tools. The two companies said they would share ad revenues generated by the use of these products.

Fotolog currently has more than 7 million members in 50 community groups, covering subjects ranging from cats to street art. They spend an average of 23 minutes on the site daily. AOL's Userplane said that more than 150,000 online communities, including giant MySpace, deploy its tool--and that it serves more than 1 billion ads monthly in its online players. Userplane also said it plans to roll out an advertising revenue-sharing program later this quarter.
