Ford Plans 'Knight Rider' Giveaway Sweepstakes

Ford is expanding its link with NBC's coming remake of "Knight Rider" by launching a sweepstakes to give away four new cars, beginning on the night of the made-for-TV movie.

Called the "Ford 'Knight Rider' Giveaway Sweepstakes" and debuting Feb. 17, the four cars will carry a combined value of more than $150,000.

A Ford Mustang will play a key role in the show as the "KITT" car--portrayed as "absolutely the coolest car ever created" with a super computer and artificial intelligence. (In the original 1980s "Knight Rider" series on NBC, the car was a souped-up Pontiac Trans Am.)

At four junctures during the two-hour film, viewers will be directed to go online and answer a question about the movie to enter the sweepstakes (a correct answer isn't required to win). The four winners will be selected randomly from all entrants around March 3.

Robert Parker, a Ford marketing executive, said, "'Knight Rider' is one of the best examples of a car playing a lead role on television ... (and) the partnership with NBC has allowed us to push the creative envelope on screen and now to audience members who have the chance to win their very own Ford."
