The myth that kids are master multitaskers is not supported by cognitive research. Cognitive research does not support that kids' brains are better equipped than adults to handle multitasking; in fact
research shows that learning goes down with distraction. Just because we can multitask does not mean it is a good thing for kids or adults.
This myth is helping contribute to the problem of ADD
and what I call "multitasking addiction." Here is a recent post on the subject (I am guilty of multitasking too). Focusing
on one thing and doing it well is becoming a lost skill. We seem to be content with doing many things simultaneously and average. Turning off a few devices may be the best way to improve learning /
focus / quality. Thank you,
