Microsoft, NBC Team To Show Most Olympic Events

NBC will provide live Web coverage of the entire Olympic Games this August, including 2,200 hours of video covering every day of the event and nearly every competition, according to NBC digital honcho Perkins Miller. "That's about 25 sports that viewer can find online that won't be shown via broadcast," he says.

The network has been working with Microsoft for the last nine months and is using Microsoft's "silverlight" application for the video. "Dynamic ads" will be incorporated into the Olympics live streaming, and the network is talking to YouTube to try to keep a lid on piracy.
