Online auctioneer eBay has announced a five-year agreement with Mediaplex, an online advertising technology firm, which will give eBay access to Mediaplex's banner technology, capable of updating
consumers of up-to-the-minute changes in eBay auctions. With that information, eBay will be able to tailor messages for an adjusted price, product or any other variable that suits the needs of
advertisers or consumers. Brian Powley, EVP of sales and marketing at Mediaplex, says this will enable eBay to attract new customers by "actually staging a real-time auction experience within its
advertising."
