Voters Are All A-Twitter

  • November 3, 2008
Twitter Vote Report is the latest effort enlisting Web 2.0 tools turning voters into election observers. The goal is to bring increased accountability to the election by allowing people to report on their trip to the polls through a Twitter site set up by political blog techPresident and a network of volunteers.

Voters can use Twitter Vote Report to alert others to potential problems including long lines, broken machines and registered voters whose names are not showing up on voter rolls. It follows other grassroots-oriented Election Day projects including Video Your Vote, the partnership between YouTube and PBS encouraging voters to upload videos of their experiences voting to the video-sharing site.

Add in all the traditional media coverage, and Nov. 4, 2008 is likely to be the most widely recorded voting day in U.S. history.--Mark Walsh
