Accenture, Microsoft Emphasize Online Retail Support

  • January 13, 2009
Accenture and Microsoft announced a service to support retailers that want to link consumers to emerging technology platforms such as social networking and online communities.

The companies said integration with these platforms will cut costs and improve customer service for the retailers. It also will allow them to gather and analyze data from in-store and online transactions based on inventory and order fulfillment, customer relationship management and loyalty programs.

The agreement provides dedicated resources through Avanade, a global IT consultancy created by Accenture and Microsoft aimed at building and delivering successful solutions. The service also will offer cross-organizational teams focused on strategy and technology for Web, e-commerce, and digital marketing. The service is based on the new release of Microsoft Commerce Server 2009. It was unveiled at the National Retail Federation's (NRF) 98th Annual Convention & Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York.--Laurie Sullivan
